PML made this pan for Ram and Dakota trucks and Jeep SUVs with Chrysler/Dodge 4, 5 and 6 speed transmissions: 68RFE, 66RFE, 65RFE, 5–45RFE, 45RFE
Once installed, the bottom of this pan is not parallel to the ground. The drain plug is on the side closest to the ground so the pan will drain really well. Other PML pans for the Dodge RFE transmission are parallel to the ground once installed.
Always check your vehicle to verify your configuration and clearance.
PML designed this transmission oil pan to replace the stock pan on many configurations of these vehicles with a Chrysler Dodge 45RFE, 545RFE, 65RFE, 66RFE, and 68RFE:
Always check your vehicle to verify configuration and clearance. This list is not comprehensive and other vehicles may be able to use this pan. This pan will not work on 8 or 9 speed or Aisin transmissions.
2013 and newer trucks: Cooling lines (tubes) run close to the stock transmission pan on many models starting in 2013. It is a tight fit.
Jeep Owners: See our Jeep Transmission Pan Guidelines web page. Some Jeeps, like 2005 to 2013 Grand Cherokees, have the exhaust or frame near or under the stock pan. There may seem to be clearance for a PML pan, but there is probably not enough space.
Skid Plates: If you have a skid plate, you may need to move it downwards away from the transmission pan. Please see Installations for an example from a customer. Some Jeeps and a few Dodge vehicles have skid plates that limit clearance.
Trucks and SUVs with exhaust or frame members below the stock pan: for example, many Hemi engine vehicles have the exhaust under the stock pan and will need PML 2 quart over (part number 11079) or stock capacity (part number 11078) pan.
This pan works with OEM/stock filters.
The filter bolts on to the valve body. No filter support or extension is needed. The fluid will be at the same level with a stock pan as with the PML pan. The filter will pick up from the same place. PML designs pans and covers to work with stock parts without the need for additional modifications or complications.
Filters that will work with all PML Dodge RFE pans:
For a gasket, PML recommends an inexpensive cork or cork composite type gasket. Dodge/Chrysler recommends the Mopar silicon gasket maker, which comes in a tube, for many Chrysler, Dodge, Ram and Jeep vehicles. This will also work fine with a PML pan.
PML includes new mounting bolts with the transmission pan. The PML bolts are longer and the thread diameter and threads per inch are the same. PML bolts are longer since the flange on the PML pan is much thicker than the flange on the stock OEM pan.
Five holes on the transmission are NOT through holes. Check that the PML bolts do not bottom out. This depends on the thickness of the gasket and depth of holes in the housing.
Make sure the holes on the housing are clean and free of debris.
PML bolts are longer because of the thick flange on the PML pan.
This pan has a 1/8 NPT sender port for an aftermarket transmission fluid temperature gauge. The port is on the driver side of the pan. A plug for the hole is included.
The baffles on the inside of the PML pan keep the oil near the pickup tube, act as heat sinks to help with cooling, and reduce sloshing.
